ChatGPT Agent Mode 😎 and more mind-blowing AI tool updates

This week: OpenAI's first true agent, ChatGPT's powerful research capabilities, and AI accounting tools to save you from spreadsheet hell.

Hello, AI Operators!

You know you’re on the right track when people start copying you.

This week, we stumbled upon a fake AI Operator website, which honestly just boosted my team's morale.

It's a weird kind of validation, but they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

AI has made it ridiculously easy to create a convincing website in just a few hours. This confirms what we all know: AI is a double-edged sword that amplifies both risks and opportunities for businesses.

That’s why I’m dedicated to training teams to get the best out of AI and defend against the potential dangers.

Just an FYI, the only GENUINE AI Operator website is: https://aioperator.com/

Now, let’s get into the topics of this week’s newsletter.

Today at a glance:

  • OpenAI launches ChatGPT Agent, the first truly agentic AI application

  • Suno's AI music creation gets scary good with version 4.5

  • Swedish AI coding startup Lovable hits unicorn status in just 8 months

  • Step-by-step guide to using ChatGPT's new Agent Mode

  • New video: ChatGPT Connectors give AI access to your entire digital workspace

  • Finlens: AI accounting tool that saves founders from spreadsheet hell

News:

OpenAI drops first true AI agent

OpenAI launched ChatGPT Agent, which combines web browsing and research into a single system that can handle complex tasks from start to finish using its own virtual computer, such as creating presentations, booking travel, or updating spreadsheets.

The company claims it’s a natural evolution of Operator and Tasks.

I’m still testing this feature. It's early days, but I just tried using the agent to access Replit’s agent, which then accessed Claude Code. That’s the fun future awaiting us: agents interacting with each other!

Suno AI gets scarily good at creating music

Suno released version 4.5, featuring enhanced vocals, more genres, improved sound quality, and the ability to create 8-minute songs.

It’s so good that I made four tracks in 30 minutes. I played them at my mother’s birthday dinner, and nobody guessed they were fully AI-generated.

My wife wasn’t impressed though - she’s spent the past 6 months working on a new song. (Oops!)

Check out suno.

Swedish startup hits unicorn status 8 months after launch

Lovable, an AI coding platform that helps non-technical users build websites with natural language, raised $200M at a $1.8B valuation just 8 months after launch with 2.3M users and a 45-person team.

I’ve used Lovable, it’s a good tool, but my preferred vibe coding setup is Replit + Claude Code.

One Guide :

How to use ChatGPT's new agent mode for research

ChatGPT’s agent mode makes the perfect research assistant.

This feature is available to Pro users, and some Plus and Teams users are slowly being granted access. Check your Tools section in ChatGPT to see if you have access.

Now, here’s how to use it for research:

Step 1: Go to the Tools section and activate agent mode. This transforms ChatGPT from a conversational assistant into a proactive researcher that can browse the web and complete complex tasks independently.

Step 2: Give your instructions. To kick off a research workflow, use a powerful prompt like:

"Research my top competitors, provide their names, create a competition analysis, generate a spreadsheet, and create a slide deck."

This single prompt will initiate a comprehensive research project that would typically take hours.

Step 3: Watch the magic happen in real-time. It’s impressive to see the reasoning process in action as it plans how to tackle your request, decides which tools to use, and outlines its approach to gathering information.

Step 4: Monitor the agent's progress through two different views. You can observe its web browsing activity directly through the browser view, seeing exactly what it's looking at and how it's collecting data. Activity view provides a structured breakdown of what the agent is doing at each step. This transparency offers insight into how AI actually works on complex problems.

Step 5: Provide feedback and iterate as needed. If the initial results aren't exactly what you wanted, you can refine your request, and the agent will adjust its approach based on your guidance.

If you have access, test this feature immediately!

I believe this early version of agent mode gives us a glimpse into the future of AI assistants taking action on our behalf.

This guide is brief because, honestly, there's not much more to explain. The technology is remarkably intuitive, and the real value comes from trying it yourself and imagining how it could fit into your workflow.

One Media:
ChatGPT just got access to your entire digital workspace

I've just released a video showcasing ChatGPT's Connectors feature, and it could be the most practical AI advancement we've seen all year. These connectors let ChatGPT directly access your Gmail, Google Drive, calendar, GitHub, and more, essentially giving your AI assistant eyes into your actual work.

What excites me most about this is how immediately useful it is. I walk through five real business scenarios - from analyzing customer emails for churn risk to automatically drafting proposals using your existing documents.

One Tool:

Accounting for founders, simplified with AI

Finlens is an AI co-pilot designed specifically for financial clarity. It’s like having an AI-powered financial analyst working around the clock, giving you real-time visibility into your business health without the headaches.

I haven't tested Finlens myself yet, but it's definitely on my list. I wanted to share it with you because if you're struggling with accounting and paying hefty fees to accountants as a small business owner or founder, this might be worth exploring.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • Instant financial clarity - Get key metrics like runway, burn rate, and cash flow at a glance

  • AI-powered automation - Automatically categorizes transactions and reconciles accounts

  • Built on QuickBooks - No migration needed, syncs in real-time

  • GAAP-ready books - Generates accurate financial records without manual data entry

  • 1000+ integrations - Connects with all your bank accounts and financial tools

There are two scenarios where I think Finlens will shine:

  • First, if you're that founder spending 10+ hours monthly wrestling with spreadsheets instead of growing your business.

  • Second, if you're a small business owner tired of expensive accountant fees for basic financial tracking.

What’s more, Finlens represents an exciting trend. I think we’re moving toward specialized AI tools that do specific jobs with near-perfect accuracy. A tool trained specifically for accounting will give you much more accurate help than ChatGPT, for example.

Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, niche tools like Finlens solve specific pain points that founders face daily.

Ready to reclaim those hours spent on bookkeeping? Try Finlens and see if it fits your financial workflow.

TL;DR:

  • Someone tried to copy AI Operator's website. This proves we’re doing something right, but also how AI makes life easier than ever for scammers.

  • OpenAI launched ChatGPT Agent, the first truly agentic AI that can perform complex research tasks from start to finish.

  • Suno's AI music creation tool is now so advanced I created 4 tracks in 30 minutes (compared to my wife, who spent 6 months on one song.)

  • Swedish AI coding startup Lovable reached unicorn status in just 8 months with 2.3M users and only 45 employees.

  • My step-by-step guide shows you how to use ChatGPT's new Agent Mode to automate complex research tasks.

  • My new video demonstrates how ChatGPT Connectors give AI access to your Gmail, Drive, and other tools, creating a truly integrated assistant.

  • Finlens is an AI accounting tool that gives founders real-time financial clarity without spreadsheet headaches, and demonstrates the power of specialized AI tools.
